There are three main visa schemes which make up the Ukraine Schemes. The first is Homes for Ukraine which includes the Scottish Government’s Super Sponsor Scheme. The second is the Ukraine Family Scheme which was the first scheme to be announced and the third is the Ukraine Extension Scheme. The Scottish Super Sponsor Scheme has been paused to new applicants since July 2022. The Ukraine Extension Scheme closed to new applications in May 2024 for all but children born to Ukraine scheme visa holders. In February 2024, the Family Scheme closed and at the same time the visa length for Homes for Ukraine was reduced from 3 years to 18 months.
Visa holders of all of these schemes will be eligible to apply for the Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme at the end of their current period of leave which grants an additional 18 months’ leave.

Please note that BRPs for these schemes will expire at the end of 2024 and will be replaced by eVisas. These will be accessed online through a UKVI account and will be a means of electronically confirming immigration status. Despite this BRPs should be kept after expiry as they can be used for travel for the remainder of 2024 and they may be required in future visa applications.
